The Adventures of UNO!
Once upon a time, a girl decided to draw a Unicorn. Drawing this creature made her so happy, she realized she had to share them with the world.
Dear friends, it is my greatest honor to share with you the of a story about a wonderful Unicorn I know, called Uno. xoxo
The Tale of Uno the Unicorn
Written & Illustrated by K. Spargo
Chapter 1: The Unicorn and the Mouse
On the edge of the world, Uno the Unicorn sat alone. Quiet and a little sad…
“I’ve had enough of this…” muttered Uno, to no one in particular. “I need to find a friend; someone just like me. Another Unicorn! No, I need to find a WHOLE HERD of Unicorns!!”
And so right there and then, Uno made the decision to go an adventure. An expedition to find their herd.
On the way, Uno came upon a Mouse. They were stood beside a broken sign, frowning.
“Where are you going?” asked Uno. “Do you need help?”
The Mouse studied their map. “I was meant to be going this way” exclaimed the mouse, “but now I don’t know WHICH way is
this way, or
that way, or
the other way.”
The Mouse sighed. “I guess I’m lost. What are you doing here? Do you know where you are going?”
“I’m looking for my herd” said Uno confidently. “Have you seen them?”
“I don’t think so” the mouse mused. “Do they look like you?”
The Unicorn paused, thinking. “Well, I guess they should, right? If they are going to be part of my herd.”
“I’ll help you find them!” exclaimed the Mouse. “Perhaps I’ll find MY way, while we’re looking for your friends. I’m Moos by the way.”
And so off the pair went.
Uno and Moos walked and walked until the mouse’s tummy started grumbling.
“I have cheese here. Hold on” said Moos. The pair were both so busy, they didn’t notice two creatures sat by the side of the road.
“We have crackers” a voice purred. “Care to join us?”
Chapter 2: The Dog and the Cat
"My name is Kipper" smiled the cat and this is my best friend, Pupper."
Pupper was too busy to even look up, concentrating on the important task of uniting crackers with cheese.
"We grew up together" added Kipper. We do everything together."
Uno's eyes widened, "that's exactly what I'm looking for!" they declared.
"Unicorns just like that for my herd".
The group talked and ate, until there was nothing left but a few crumbs.
Which, just to be helpful Pupper gobbled up.
"I like being helpful" Pupper stated proudly.
"Would you help me find my herd?" asked Uno. "Kipper, Pupper, come with us?"
Never ones to turn down an escapade, the Cat and the Dog joined the Unicorn and the Mouse on their journey.
The creatures sauntered and strolled and joked and jested until they heard a noise...
H E E E L L L L L L L L L P !
"That sounds like me!" cried Uno. "that must be another Unicorn!
The creatures all raced towards the sound...
Chapter 3: A Dinosaur?!?!
"No..." sighed Uno, peering into the hole.
"That is NOT a Unicorn. They might sounds like me, but they do not look like me".
The Dinosaur looked concerned.
"Does that mean that you aren't going to help me out of this hole?' they asked nervously.
"Of course we will!" chorused the group.
And so they did.
The five animals kept each other company day and night.
They told tales of where they came from and what they wanted tomorrow to bring.
And they became the very best of friends.
Eventually the adventurers managed to reach the other side of the world.
When they got there, they couldn't believe their eyes.
There was another Unicorn!
Chapter 4: The end of the world
Finally!
The friends gathered around Uno
excitedly.
"UNO, UNO!" they cried.
"We've found another
Unicorn. We've found someone
for your herd!"
Uno was delighted. They had been searching for so long, for someone to share their days with.
But then it suddenly dawned on them...
With a full heart, Uno realized their herd was standing right beside them.
As they had from the very start.
"I don't have to look or sound like my friends, for them to want to spend time with me. My herd is already here."
Ever so faintly a tiny voice whispered "can I join your herd? I've always wanted one just like this."
And that my friends, is the end of this story...
...but the beginning of another xoxo
